Alaska Rainbow Trout Fishing

Kenai Peninsula

Kenai Peninsula and Kenai River offer some of the best fishing in Alaska, including World Record Salmon.  You may experience Combat Fishing on the Russian River and go home with enough stories to last a lifetime.

Combat Fishing is one experience you won't soon forget; packed shoulder to shoulder with your fellow anglers, fishing the Russian River for salmon takes on a whole new meaning to fishing.  While the crowds are definitely something to wonder at, it seems the more the fish, the better the fishing and the better experience had by all.

Accessible by car and plane from Anchorage, this is one of the easier trips to experience.  There are airports located in Kenai and Homer; car rentals are available. The Kenai Peninsula offers so much to visitors you won't go home disappointed.

The Kenai Peninsula offers more than just combat fishing!  Guides are numerous, lodges for every budget and taste, dining, entertainment, and scenery that can't be matched.

Choosing a Guide

Here are some basic guidelines to assist in choosing a guide:

·         Does the guide have a valid Coast Guard license?

·         Are there enough PFD (Personal Floatation Devices) on board for everyone?

·         Is the guide/company insured?

·         How long has the guide been in business?

·         Can the guide provide any local references?

·         How much time will be spent fishing and how much is travel time?

·         What size is the boat? Is the cabin large enough for all the passengers? Is the cabin heated? Is there a toilet?

·         What is included in the rate? Is there any meal service provided?

·         How much deposit is required? And when is final payment due? What is the cancellation policy? What happens if the trip is cancelled due to bad weather?

·         How old should my child be to go on a charter?  Is there a discount for children?

Salmon is the most popular fish run here, though Rainbow Trout fishing is excellent.  Be sure to follow all the Fish & Game regulations to ensure you will have the best Alaska Fishing Adventure of a lifetime.

Make sure you have the proper gear for everyone in your party, including PFD, extra clothing to layer for changing conditions, sunglasses, hip waders and extra socks, enough food and water for everyone in your party, and bug repellant if fishing on the shore.  Don’t forget that products containing DEET are harmful to synthetic materials like fishing line!!!
