Alaska Trout Fishing

Your Alaska Trout Fishing adventure begins where some of the most spectacular freshwater fishing, fly-fishing, saltwater fishing, and even winter ice fishing known in the world can be found.  You can charter a boat or float plane for access to secluded fishing spots where you can fish many of the numerous species found in the Alaskan waters.  Alaska has over 3 million lakes, 3,000 rivers and countless fish-filled streams – so narrow down the possibilities - the angling adventure of a lifetime awaits!

Every different area of the state caters to the needs of every angler – with accommodations ranging from pampered and luxurious to rustic.  You can reserve a Forest Service Cabin for the weekend.  Take the Alaska Marine Highway ferry system to different ports only accessible by boat or air.  Be sure to be on the lookout for wildlife, including Bears, Caribou, Dall Sheep, eagles, lynx, moose, mountain goats, musk oxen and whales.  How will your unique Alaska Fishing Adventure unfold?

Alaska has 570,373 square miles and is one-fifth the size of the continental U.S. - that’s over twice the size of Texas!  Alaska is so vast; it even has its own time zone!  All of Alaska, except the far west Aleutian Islands, is in the Alaska Time Zone, which is one hour earlier than the Pacific Time Zone.  Remember to follow all boat safety guides, and don’t forget the glacial fed waters are icy – learn how to prevent and treat hypothermia before you go.  For more information, go to http://www.dnr.state.ak.us/parks/safety/hypother.htm

Mosquitoes

You’ve heard the stories, and want to know if the Mosquitoes are as bad as “they” say?  Well, Mosquitoes are definitely widespread and persistent in Alaska, occurring in the swampy tundra and lakes from early spring into the fall – prime fishing time!

Mosquitoes are generally most active in the early morning hours and at dusk and most prevalent in areas where there is standing or stagnant water and little or no breeze.  While you can't plan your Alaska Trout Fishing Adventure around the mosquito, they are easy enough to deal with.  You will find a good selection of bug repellant in nearly every corner store, supermarket, and outdoor center, just be sure to keep some handy and follow the directions closely.  Besides, you’ll be so busy landing your catch, it won’t deter your adventure in the least.

Whether you are fishing for salmon, halibut, or world class Alaska Rainbow Trout, you will not be disappointment in your adventure.
